The Trusted Information Sharing Network (TISN) is the primary way for industry and all levels of government to work together to enhance the security and resilience of critical infrastructure. Through the TISN, members of the critical infrastructure community collaborate to strengthen the resilience of their organisations and industry sectors in the face of all hazards.
Members of the TISN collaborate to:
- identify and manage risks to critical infrastructure
- address security gaps within sectors and implement mitigation strategies
- inform future policy and programs to further support critical infrastructure resilience
- achieve the objectives of the
Critical Infrastructure Resilience Strategy.
TISN is an Australian Government initiative that is administered by the Department of Home Affairs.
The TISN brings together many different stakeholders from across the critical infrastructure community, including:
- critical infrastructure owners and operators
- supply chain entities
- peak bodies
- cross-sectoral interest groups
- academics
- research institutes
- the
Resilience Expert Advisory Group (REAG)
- all levels of government.
If you fall under one of these categories, and would like to join TISN, email
CIR@homeaffairs.gov.au.
When you join the TISN, you may be eligible to join a
TISN sector group. TISN sector groups bring members of the same critical infrastructure sector together to target information sharing and collaboration.
The work and engagement done by the TISN is overseen by the
Critical Infrastructure Advisory Council (CIAC).
Benefits of joining the TISN
The TISN provides members with easy access to critical infrastructure information and the community it generates via the TISN online engagement Platform on Microsoft Teams (the Platform).
The TISN engages critical infrastructure stakeholders through:
- online webinars
- site visits
- web forums on the Platform
- in-person workshops and roundtables.
These engagement activities help to enhance the security and resilience of critical infrastructure by:
- better managing risk using an understanding of threat, vulnerability and consequences through its cross-sector space on the Platform
- increasing awareness and understanding of the flow-on impacts of disruptions to any critical infrastructure sector
- enhancing communication channels and networks between industry and all levels of government
- identifying gaps and implementing appropriate strategies to reduce risk within each sector
- informing future policies and programs to support critical infrastructure resilience.
Sector groups enable critical infrastructure owners and operators to share information on threats and vulnerabilities. They also provide space to collaborate on appropriate measures to mitigate risk and boost resilience.
Each sector group is supported by an Australian Government agency. This is usually the agency that has portfolio responsibility for that sector.
