The Australian Government regulates the security of Australian maritime transport through the:
We engage with maritime industry participants through the biannual Maritime Industry Security Consultative Forum which is co-chaired with an elected maritime industry representative.
The MTOFSA requires certain maritime industry participants to have and comply with, an approved maritime security plan. They are:
- ship operators of regulated Australian ships
- security regulated port operators
- port facility operators at security regulated ports
- offshore facility operators and service providers.
