Town Halls: Proposed amendments to streamline and modernise the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act 2018
Join one of our virtual town halls to learn more about the proposed changes to the
Security of Critical Infrastructure Act (SOCI Act).
The Department of Home Affairs will hold town halls on:
- Monday 6 July 2026, 1:00pm to 2:00pm AEST
- Tuesday 21 July 2026, 3:30pm to 4:30pm AEST.
The sessions will outline the proposed measures for the second tranche of reforms. The proposed measures aim to:
- reduce unnecessary complexity and regulatory duplication
- modernise and refine sector and asset coverage
- clarify legislative expectations, assurance mechanisms, and governance arrangements to better assess whether security and resilience outcomes are being achieved.
SOCI Act overview town hall
The department will hold a separate town hall for entities that are not currently covered by the SOCI Act but may be following the reforms to provide an overview of the SOCI Act.
This session will be held on Tuesday 14 July 2026, 2:00pm to 3:00pm AEST.

Public Session
The department will hold a public Impact Analysis session to support consultation on proposed amendments to streamline and modernise the SOCI Act. The session will focus on the practical impacts of the proposed reforms.
